Social Justice Philosophy
Social Justice for me in means for everyone to have the same rights and equality regardless of race or beliefs. The saying of Social Justice is used when in the year 2001 on the Mother’s Day weekend 14 parents and other people made a hunger strike because their voices were not heard since they asked for a new school in the lawndale neighborhood when finally after 19 days of the hunger strike the CEO announced that they would be constructing the school. As I’ve grown older now I know much better what Social Justice is because of what I been through. When my dad for example was taken to jail because with no apparent reason he was stopped and then I knew that in that court day that the officer testify against my father the judge said to the police officer that he didn’t have to stop him for no reason and my dad was released. That day I learned that people would find ways to bring you down, but the truth and Social Justice would always be stronger than all the negative comments.
While trying to have Social Justice everywhere in some cases it ain’t that easy. Social Justice among our Latino community is hard to achieve because of all the discrimination that is still among us because if we are immigrants or not the government and even ur own people won’t give us the rights that we need. Today even though President Barack Obama said he would not put people to deport them still this is temporal it hasn’t been an actual law that would stay forever in this country in order to help the immigrant community. As an immigrant is my duty to help the immigrant community because even though we are not born in his country still that doesn’t mean that our rights can’t be respected and for people to take advantage of it. In my Latin American history class my teacher teach us how the Spaniards took over the land of Mexico and how even though they were foreign people their rights and beliefs were respected and when I see how in the United States some people can't respect that it makes me acknowledge how justice is not being implemented.
Therefore, in order for Social Justice to be achieved we must work together to improve the equality and rights among our community members no matter what their situation is. As a community we should provide more help to the people who need more information on their rights and help them be more open-minded and not let anyone take advantage of them in any circumstance. If we keep alive Social Justice as a community then throughout time there would be more justice and we would have a better world. Having to face many obstacles in life can put you in the path on knowing if everywhere you go there would be any kind of justice. In this country justice has been questioned, but like with the DACA programs that President Barack Obama gave the dreamers there is still hope.
Consequently, my vision to help Social Justice is to keep on speaking up and not keep quiet if I know there is been violation of rights and they are not being respected. For my fire project I intend to make a presentation on how has the impact of sexual abuse on women affected the community. My fire project topic is about sexual abuse on women because I can relate to this topic and I know that in our community and among us as students can also relate. As I enter my future career I want to become a Chef and this job can help me achieve Social Justice too
