Social Justice Philosophy
What Social Justice means for all those who really care about our future is that all humans are equal and that everyone has the same rights and responsibilities, also means that is an act of crime to the people do to those who can’t defend themselves, because of the resources or the way they look. Social Justice has happened when for example president Barack Obama passed the law of the Dream act for undocumented students. This law helped undocumented students to achieve their dream to be able to go to College. To be determined and be willing to sacrifice certain things is what helps Social Justice to be possible. In my personal experience I became a dreamer since I left my born country by learning a new language and a new culture, and now with this law I can get the opportunity to get a better job, betters opportunities. The definition of Social Justice has changed over time by the circumstances that the laws and the people have put it now.
However, Social Justice hasn’t being achieve completely because of how racism and discrimination is still existing today. The issues that had happened before with slavery and segregation had an impact in the U.S because it changed its history. Now a days the issues that we have now have to do with immigration and the use of force. When I came to Chicago I had to face many obstacles for example coming to a different place where I didn’t know anyone and had to learn a new language. This experience with having to deal with learning a new culture and a new language cause me a coming of age because it helped me to grow mentally. This experience overall helped me grow as a person and learn to make better decisions in life.
Social Justice has been achieved by the support from the people and also the helped from laws. As time passes Social Justice would changed by generating more organizations of people who be willing to change laws that prevents us from achieving justice. For example when I came here to Chicago my perspective changed because there is more laws that protect you. Another event that I faced where there was no justice is when the police stopped me and my friends for no reason and they checked us and let us go because we didn’t have anything.
My contribution to Justice is by assisting to a Social Justice school that gives me the chance to help my community and help justice be obtained. The fire project that I am focused on is the abuse on women. I am interested in this topic because my mother is a women and have a sister and I wouldn’t want them to be abuse in any way.
